| | Shooting Star - In memory of Marsha McDonnell |
| On a cold , horrible night back in 2002 a young girl was brutally murdered within sight of her home in Hampton, South London on the way hame from a night out with friends. Her assailant has never been found.
That girl was 19 year-old Marsha McDonnell, daughter of Phil and Ute McDonnell.
Her father, Phil, a dear friend of Moya, was Clannad's tour manager throughout the 80's and 90's and became very close to the Brennan family.
Through the devastation brought about by Marsha's untimely death a ray of hope has emerged - something by which she has been remembered and something which has benefited other young people whose lives are being shortened by illness.
The Shooting Star Children's Hospice provides care and support to children and young people living with a life-limiting condition and their families. Marsha was a keen supporter of the Hospice and, annually, an evening of quality entertainment has been organised to raise funds for it in her memeory.
Tonight Moya has performed at the evening in Hampton and has expressed a wish that anyone who might be touched by Marsha's passing and the incredible work done by Shooting Star might find it in themselves to send an expression of support. In many ways this would also amount to an act of support for the McDonnell family.
